DALLAS
(Dallas, TX) I had a great time this weekend in Dallas. Tex-Mex, BBQ, Mavericks, Mario Kart, my 'rents and the boys. Sooner or later, we're moving back there. (Video post just as great but completely unrelated.)

CAN'T STAND THE HEAT

(Minneapolis, MN) WARNING: ADULT LANGUAGE AHEAD.
I have to give a little background to my story. I work with a music company semi-regularly and they have great seats to the Timberwolves. A few months ago, they gave me the seats to the Spurs and T'Wolves but I couldn't go. So I sent an agency wide e-mail with a T'Wolves related trivia question. I figured I might as well give them away to someone that likes the home team. First one to answer correctly, gets them for free.
(For the record, the question was "Who is the only T'Wolf to have his number retired?)
This guy Chris Cloud won and he took this guy Gil (who happens to be a huge Heat fan, more on that later).
Related Sidenote: I still hate the Heat. Dwayne Wade's flopping is burned into my brain. I just watched the youtube clips of all the phantom calls from the Games 5 and 6 of the 2006 Finals and the venom is literally (okay, figuratively) spewing from my fingertips as I type this. ARRGGGHHH!!! DAMN THE HEAT! THAT WAS OUR CHAMPIONSHIP! THAT WAS OUR PARADE!!!
Whew! Anyway, since that first giveaway, Gil (along with 17 others) have been laid off. Worth noting, I suppose.
So today I was given more free tickets and couldn't go. So I sent another agency wide e-mail giving away the tickets with a new trivia question. (Who is the T'Wolves second leading scorer?) So when Gil finds out that I gave these tickets away, he gets all pissed off because I didn't give them to him.
Here's my response:

Was I so wrong? Then I looked up how much tickets are going for... 45 bucks!!! FOR GREAT SEATS! Isn't that worth it to see your team??? I found $800 courtside seats for $100.
Here was my next e-mail:

You tell me loyal reader (and their lawyers), girlfriends, fiances, and fellow blogger...I'm right, right?
Regardless, I STILL THE HATE THE HEAT!
Plus, the music house gave me the those tickets to see the Mavericks. So I got that going for me.

PB + J = DEATH

(Minneapolis, MN) Be careful all my friends in the Great White North...
From the AP - Salmonella bacteria that has sickened nearly 400 people in Minnesota and 41 other states has been conclusively linked to peanut butter, Minnesota health officials announced Monday.
State health and agriculture officials said last week they had found salmonella bacteria in a 5-pound package of King Nut peanut butter at a nursing facility in Minnesota. Officials tested the bacteria over the weekend and found a genetic match with the bacterial strain that has led to 30 illnesses in Minnesota and others across the country.
“The commonality among all of our patients was that they ate peanut butter,” said Doug Schultz, a spokesman with the Minnesota Department of Health. While the brand of peanut butter couldn’t be confirmed in every case, the majority of patients consumed the same brand, he said Monday.
